But now the cat arrived at a great castle where dwelt an Ogre. This Ogre owned all the land through which the royal equipage had been driving. He was a cruel tyrant, and his tenants and servants were terribly afraid of him. That accounted for their being so ready to say whatever they were told to say by the cat. So he had taken pains to inform himself of all about the Ogre. So, Puss put on the boldest face he could assume. He marched up to the castle with his boots on, and asked to see the owner of it.
