Legend has it that Libya lived in fear of a ferocious dragon that wreaked havoc among men.
To appease the terrible beast, the villagers offered a tribute every day. First, they sacrificed their sheep, then the men, and when there were neither sheep nor men, they began to offer their own children, chosen by lottery.
