Hurricanes are powerful natural disasters. They begin as tropical storms. When the sea's surface heats up, it causes water evaporation. Warm, moist air rises from the ocean. This creates a low-pressure area. As more warm air rises, it creates a cyclone. The cyclone spins faster and forms a hurricane. Winds need to be at least 74 mph for it to be classified as a hurricane.
