The human mind has always been a mystery. Numerous philosophers, thinkers, artists and scientists have attempted to try to understand its operation. Knowing our own mind is, perhaps, one of humanities greatest challenges.
One of the aspects of the human mind that has caught scholars’ attention the most is insanity.
The concept of “insanity”, however, has varied not only throughout history but it is also different for each culture. The values and understanding of each period of time have influenced the conception of what is considered to be “normal” and “abnormal”.
