Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, was a famous soccer player from Brazil. Pelé was born on October 23, 1940. He grew up in Bauru in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
As a boy, he loved playing soccer. Pelé started his soccer career at 15. He played for a team called Santos FC. He showed great skill and talent.
