Beauty and The Beast; Part I

A simplified version of the traditional fairy tale based on the text of Madame de Beaumont.

Once upon a time, there lived a very rich merchant who had three sons and three daughters. The youngest daughter was so beautiful that everyone called her The Little Beauty, so when she grew up she was known as Beauty. Because of this, her sisters were always jealous.
Beauty was very different from her sisters. They were haughty and used to go to plays, balls and concerts, while Beauty was kind, humble, and spent her time reading books. Since they were rich, they had lots of wooers, but the eldest sisters rejected them because they wanted to get married to a Duke or an Earl. In contrast, Beauty always thanked those who courted her, and told them she was too young to get married, and that she wanted to spend a few more years with her father.
