Your 2024 Spotify Wrapped is almost here, ready to summarize your year in music + listening obsessions, and tell you what kind of listener you are—Spotify’s version of an MBTI. Oh and one more thing, this year’s Wrapped might even remind you to "touch grass.” Just kidding, Spotify won’t remind you to touch grass, but really, you should though while you’re diving into one of your Daily Mixes. You could even take five minutes to step outside, breathe in some fresh air, and let nature hit pause on your doomscrolling.

But before you touch grass + hug a tree + save the bees, you should definitely learn what words people have been using a lot this year of 2024. And figure out whether or not you know what any of them mean. Or if you’ve used any of them in your life.

  1. ama: “ask me anything”
  2. ate and left no crumbs: a term used to characterize something done exceptionally well
  3. basic: something mainstream and uncommon
  4. bfr: “be for real”
  5. beige flag: an unusual characteristic that is neither good nor bad
  6. boy dinner: a stereotypically simple dinner, often protein-heavy
  7. rizz: short for charisma; charm
  8. caught in 4k: to be caught doing something
  9. delulu: derived from “delusional”
  10. eli5: “explain like I am 5,” used for asking for simple explanations
  11. fax no printer: another way to say “nothing but the truth”
  12. flex: to show off
  13. fire: something amazing or extraordinary
  14. fr: “for real”
  15. frfr: “for real for real”
  16. girl dinner: a meal with small servings of various snacks
  17. hold this L: another way to say “take this loss”
  18. iykyk: “if you know, you know”
  19. lmr: “like my recent,” often seen on social media
  20. mid: average
  21. NPC: “non-playable character,” describing repetitive behavior
  22. reply guy: often refers to men replying obnoxiously to women’s posts
  23. say less: “I understand”
  24. sigma: describes a quiet, independent, rebellious man
  25. smol: another way to say “small”
  26. TBF: “to be fair”
  27. TFW: “that feeling when”
  28. touch grass: a playful way of saying “unplug and embrace nature”
  29. vanilla: boring; not exciting
