How To Count In Filipino From 1 To 100 Using Spanish-Derived Numbers

This might sound very interesting or might even sound a bit annoying (especially if you are not a fan of numbers) but when it comes to learning Filipino, you should actually learn two sets of numbers: the Tagalog set of numbers and the Spanish-derived set of numbers.
I know, reading that sounds a lot does it not? So just take a breather and don’t worry because these numbers cannot hurt you. This special knowledge of numbers is just going to help you learn more about the Filipino language and culture. Which is quite fascinating, if you ask me.
And, luckily for you, I can help you master both sets. One caveat: this blog is going to focus on the Spanish-derived set. But with just one click away, you’ll find another blog that’s going to help you master the Tagalog set of numbers.
Okay, so the Spanish-derived numbers in Filipino are used a lot. These numbers are used when talking about time and money. Like when you hear the question “what time is it” or “anong oras na,” the typical reply would be said using a Spanish-derived number like “it is 9 am” or “alas nwebe ng umaga,” and you almost won’t hear a reply said in the Tagalog set. Or like when you hear the question “how much” or “magkano,” the typical reply to that would be priced using a Spanish-derived number like “twenty” or “beynte,” and you almost won’t hear a reply said in the Tagalog set.
