Bilingual History & Culture Audiobooks

Learn a language through your favourite topics!

One of the greatest pleasures of learning a new language lies in the world that opens up to you. Speaking a foreign language gives you access to people, ideas and worldviews that you would never otherwise encounter.

This is why it’s so important to remember to step away from the textbook, out of the classroom and into the world, so you can meet and connect with fluent speakers and find out what they’re really all about.

Master languages from around globe while discovering different worlds

All you need is 10 minutes a day in order for you to quickly and noticeably expand your vocabulary in your new language. You can choose from our huge selection of stories and read them alongside the same text in your own language.

This means that there’s no stopping every few minutes to look a word up, as you can see the translation beside it. Whatever your level, you can follow along without feeling lost or frustrated. By seeing your target language alongside your own, you can see how phrases are constructed while learning new words.

And to make things even better, you also have the possibility of listening to our stories as you’re reading them. As all of our stories are narrated by native speakers, you’ll have the chance to get used to hearing how the language is spoken in real life. As you can listen along while reading, it won’t take any extra time, so you’ll be training your ear at the same time, which will help you understand people in everyday conversation.

At the end of each text, you’ll find a short set of comprehension questions to help you check that you’ve understood what you’ve just read. Our History and Culture audiobooks are available in 14 languages. What are you waiting for to learn Spanish, Japanese, Korean, French, Chinese, German, Italian and 7 other languages?

FAQs

How often should I study?

If you can, you should try to practice every day! The key to learning any language is consistency. You don’t need to spend a long time each day; a baseline of 10 minutes is enough to see progress. More important than long study sessions is keeping them regular. So if you can study for 10 minutes a day, 5 or 6 times a week, you’ll really notice the difference.

When is the best time to study?

The actual time is less important than keeping to a schedule. The best thing you can do is to find a day that you have a little time free every day. For some people this might be just after eating lunch, or just before going to bed at night. Try to always keep to this same time so that you can build a regular routine.

Can I learn through reading and listening to audiobooks?

The two receptive skills in language learning are reading and listening. Reading a text while listening to a native speaker covers both of these skills at the same time. By sticking to a regular schedule, you’ll see your vocabulary and understanding of your target language grow rapidly over time.
