“Azizam” And More Sweet Talks In Persian

You sang those words while reading that, didn’t you? Or is it just me? Because I was singing my heart out and moving my body just typing those catchy Ed Sheeran lyrics. I still remember the first time I heard that song on a random April morning. I was in the kitchen making lunch (I don’t even remember what), dancing as if no one was watching. Well, except for my dog. She was definitely watching, and I’m pretty sure she was judging, but I didn’t mind one bit.

Now, azizam isn’t just a pop lyric to an Ed Sheeran boppy song. It is actually a very common Persian term of endearment, which you can of course use to call a special someone. It is the Persian equivalent to the affectionate English word “my darling.” But in the poetic world of Persian sweet talk, azizam is just the beginning.
