It’s a Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco in it kind of day today. And that means indulging in some Game of Thrones lore, as well as learning more about the famed fictional language of High Valyrian. Because of the Game of Thrones prequel called House of the Dragon, we have now been exposed to more High Valyrian than before. In fact, our vocabulary in High Valyrian has grown from basic, essential words like “Dracarys” (dragonfire) to “Lykiri” (calm down). If you want to challenge yourself and learn how to sing a High Valyrian lullaby, check out Daemon’s song to Vermithor, courtesy of Conlang Dialogue: House of the Dragon (HBO).

High Valyrian
English
Drakari pykiros Fire breather
Tīkummo jemiros Winged leader
Yn lantyz bartossa But two heads
Saelot vāedis To a third sing
Hen ñuhā elēnī: From my voice:
Perzyssy vestretis The fires have spoken
Se gēlȳn irūdaks And the price has been paid
Ānogrose With blood magic
Perzyro udrȳssi With words of flame
Ezīmptos laehossi With clear eyes
Hārossa letagon To bind the three
Aōt vāedan To you I sing
Hae mērot gierūli: As one we gathe
Se hāros bartossi And with three heads
Prūmȳsa sōvīli We shall fly as we were destined
Gevī dāerī Beautifully, freely

Anyway, it will be many, many moons until we get to see the highly anticipated Season 2 of House of the Dragon. I know, what a bummer. Well, more Game of Thrones lore it is. On another note, I couldn’t help but wonder… who will be cast as Aegon the Conqueror for its spin-off series? Any updates on your front HBO?

Random thoughts aside and circling back to House of the Dragon, it is safe to assume that we know we will be seeing a lot more dragon action, especially with the civil war looming from the different kingdoms all over Westeros. Btw, how many dragons do you think we’ll be meeting next season? Here’s a catch, share the number of dragons you think we’ll be seeing in High Valyrian.
